Literary / Rhetorical Devices Scavenger Hunt - Choose seven elements from the Literary/Rhetorical Device chart found on page two of the An Introduction to Close Reading handout that are unknown, known slightly, or difficult to understand, and create seven flashcards using a 3"x5" index card or half-sheet of paper. Place the term on the front side and the definition and example on the reverse side. Search for an example through google or other media sources.

1. Writing Workshop: Finish drafting the friendly letter, and print out a copy and submit to the teacher. Then, enroll in the new class through turnitin.com and upload the letter draft.
2. Read the first part of the Success for Teens article. Then, begin My Life pie chart by identifying the relative importance of various aspects of your life to your current goals in life. For each of the key areas (finances, health, social/relationships, spirituality, personal development, academics/career, and psychological), assign a percentage so that all parts equal a 100%.
Homework
1. Finish My Life pie chart.
2. Bring envelope, stamp, and the recipient's address for your personal letter.
3. Supplies - Three-ring binder, composition book, etc. (By next Wednesday)
